IBA statement
The IBA has consistently called for an evidence-based approach to policy and we welcome the publication of this latest report.
Our members are pleased to note that respondents rated positive emotions such as interest, happiness and relaxation well above any negative emotions, and we also welcome the focus on the national self-exclusion register, which the industry campaigned for.
Our members already allow all customers to opt-out of direct marketing and industry advertising is already subject to strict controls to ensure it is responsible.
About the research
The Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) today published Patterns of online and in-person gambling in Ireland, research commissioned by the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI). The study surveyed 1,000 people, designed to be representative of gamblers in Ireland, to better understand how people gamble day to day, both online and in person.
You can read the GRAI announcement here and download the full report from the ESRI website.
