Safer Gambling Week 2020:
Following the success of Responsible Gambling Week 2019, this year the event will be taking place from 19 – 25 November 2020, with a slight name change: Safer Gambling Week.
The campaign builds on the success of the previous three years in which support and awareness have continued to increase.
The key objectives of Safer Gambling Week are to raise awareness of:
• how to gamble more safely
• the tools that are available to help customers gamble responsibly
• where to find more help and support for those who need it.
Unfortunately, betting shops are closed due to Level 5 restrictions, so the opportunity to provide the face to face interactions is not available this year. However, our members will focus on getting the message out via their digital and media platforms.
With so many operators participating in Ireland and the UK this year, we are hoping that the message will be spread even further and that people will become more aware of the help that is available for people that may be affected in a negative way by gambling.
The Gambling Awareness Trust has an excellent Website providing information and advice in relation to problem gambling and also provide a list of helpful organisations. You can see this list by clicking here.
